Story of a startup: pinching pennies but plenty of passion.

This is my tireless producer and cameraman who was there with us in Quito every step of the way. From bumpy dirt roads in the back of a truck to climbing mountains and ducking under waterfalls, he did everything we did- walking backward with a video camera.

All of that footage became Jet Set Zero’s Season 6: Quito. And now we’re nominated for a Webby award! Voting ends in 2 days so hurry up and get your vote on.

We are up for a Webby! My season of Jet Set Zero in Quito is nominated for a Webby Award - Best Travel and Adventure show in the Online Film/Video category.

Want to know how to quit your job and live abroad? We’ll show you. Climbing mountains, shamans in the jungle, salsa dancing, eating guinea pig, getting robbed - it’s all here.

If you like what you see, lend your support and vote for us here.

I read about the Jet Set Zero project on a plane to the Philippines last month and thought, Brilliant. That’s my life.

Ever since I graduated college a few years ago, my time has been devoted to A) traveling and B) working to fund my traveling. The process used to be simple: work for a few months, travel for a few months. Come home with $9 in my bank account (for some reason $9 is always the magic number). Repeat.
When I returned to LA in between trips, my m.o. basically consisted of staying with friends and family or subletting apartments for a few months while earning money for my next trip. I would go to great lengths to stretch my hard-earned travel dollars. One spin in Southeast Asia and you learn exactly what money can buy. When you can buy pad thai off the street for 25 cents in Bangkok, just thinking of paying hundreds of dollars a month for rent makes you cringe.
I’m taking to the road once again as part of the Jet Set Zero cast in Quito.
Come along for the ride.
